 Welcome to Reception

Mrs Wright & Miss Shoesmith

We are so excited for the year ahead! We have met so many of you already at home and in your nursery environments but we cannot wait to welcome you into your classroom and get to know you all even more.

Mrs Wright is the teacher in Reception from Monday to Wednesday and Miss Shoesmith is the class teacher on Thursday and Friday. Mrs Griffin is our teaching assistant every day except on a Friday afternoon when Mrs Bender will work with us.

Each Wednesday morning we will have Mrs Field, Mrs Wellock and Mrs Ellis for our TENS learning where we will have outdoor learning, art or a focussed intervention. Please make sure children have wellies in school at all times!  Children will be going outside whatever the weather, so please send your child in appropriate clothing. We do have some outdoor overalls and some spare clothes in school as some children find it challenging not to get too muddy! If you know that your child is particularly fond of getting messy, sending a change of clothes in a spare bag would be handy!

In the first couple of weeks of term we will send out books for you to read with your child at home. We read daily with the children and we use the same book for a full week. This really supports your children with their fluency in reading and builds up their confidence when learning new sounds and new words.

For this reason we ask that you bring their books to school every day in their bookbags so we can read and change them as needed.

Please remember to sign up for Seesaw if you haven't already. This closed platform allows us to share your child's learning across the year and also allows you to contact class teachers easily. You can also contact any staff member via the school office email address: mail@addingham.bradford.sch.uk

Timetable

Here is the timetable that we will be building up to during the Autumn term. It will take a few weeks for us to get to this and the main priority will be settling in, getting to know the children and learning all about the school, the classroom and our new friends!

Our Curriculum

Here you will find an overview of the year ahead. This shows the coverage of our curriculum across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Although you can use this to look at what we are learning each term, you will also receive a newsletter at the end of the half term to explain what we will be learning about in the next. This will enable you to have discussions at home about all of you child's exciting new knowledge and if you have anything to bring in or share on Seesaw to add to our topics then that would be fantastic.
