Welcome to Year 2
Mrs Samtaney-Roberts
We are very pleased to welcome both you and your child to Year 2.
Mrs Samtaney-Roberts will teach Tuesday to Friday and Mrs Wellock will teach on a Monday. During the week, Mrs Cruise and Mrs Perkins with be in class also.
Please remember to sign up for Seesaw if you haven't already. This closed platform allows us to share your child's learning across the year and allows you to contact class teachers easily. You can also contact any staff member via the school office email address: mail@addingham.bradford.sch.uk
Routines for Year 2:
PE - Tuesday and Friday (PE kits can stay in school for the full half term).
Spelling Shed - Wednesday mornings
10/10/10 - Friday morning.
Reading books- Please continue to bring your ELS reading book to school every day.
Water bottle (named) - every day
Wellies in school for the full term please.
Key Dates
Meet the teacher - Wednesday 10th September: join us at 3:30pm for a presentation about the year ahead and what to expect for your child in their Reception year
Phonics and reading evening - Wednesday 17th September: join us 3:30pm also repeated at 4pm. We will repeat each meeting but please let us know if you have any difficulties and we will accommodate you as best we can!
Come dine with me - Thursday 9th October: Come and join your child for lunch in the dining room.
Whole School individual photos - 23rd September
Year 1&2 Nativity - Wednesday 17th December: 9:15am and 6pm. We repeat the nativity at 6pm so that working familes and additional family members can come and watch.
Family Friday - Friday 6th February.
Showcase Tuesday 14th April- come into school at 2pm - 3pm for some activities and to look at everything we have been learning so far.
Sports Day - Wednesday 20th May
Graduation – Thursday 25th June 6pm.
Homework:
Homework will consist of reading as much as possible but you will no longer need to log this on BoomReader. You can see updates from school on Seesaw and send any notes from home via the app if you would like to.
Your child will also receive and access weekly spellings set on Spelling Shed. This is a game you can login to from home and play the games which link to the lessons you have in school. Every Wednesday the children will play a 'test' game on the iPad in school which will let the teacher know if you need any further help with that week's spellings.
We have new log ins to give you for Times Table Rockstars so you can continue to practice your times tables. Mr Hughes was extremely impressed with this in Year 1.
If you prefer not to use the apps, please just us know and we can give you spellings and times tables on paper.
